Where can you rent a new apartment near frequent transit?

San Antonio’s frequent transit today is VIA Primo 100 and 102, run by VIA Metropolitan Transit. We list new builds near Primo stops with walk minutes from the building to the stop. Downtown San Antonio, with 10 tracked ground-up buildings on Oct 25, 2026, sits closest to Primo service on our board.

This page is about frequency, not just distance. A building beside a route that runs every 30 or 60 minutes isn’t the same as one beside a Primo stop. Primo stop walk time is the number we measure.

What does car-light living save you?

The savings show up in two places. First, parking: many new buildings, especially downtown, charge for a garage space by the month. If you can skip the space, that fee comes out of true monthly. Second, the car itself: insurance, gas, and maintenance on a second car can cost more than many rent differences between buildings.

We show car-light cost math next to true monthly for each building, with and without a parking fee. A VIA monthly pass is a fraction of most parking charges. If a bike-friendly corridor is part of your plan, we note bike storage and street access for each building.

What about the Green Line BRT?

VIA plans to open the Green Line BRT in April 2028. Station locations are pending verification with VIA, so we don’t list buildings by Green Line station yet. If you sign a 12- or 15-month lease now, it will end before the planned opening. That means the Green Line matters more for your second or third lease than your first.

Our guide on what the Green Line means for renters now covers the timeline and how to think about lease-term timing.

Who is this page for?

We describe needs, not people. This page fits if you want a car-free commute, want to drop to one car, or want a building where transit is a real option for getting to work downtown. If you’ll drive most days, our Near Work page lists buildings by free-flow minutes instead.

How we help with transit-first searches

We measure walk minutes to Primo stops for each building on your list, show car-light cost math with and without parking, and note the Green Line timeline against your lease term. We confirm parking terms and any bike storage in writing, and we send your shortlist the same day.

Common problems

Why transit searches go wrong

Three things make 'near transit' harder to judge than it looks.

1

Near a bus isn't near frequent service

Many routes run every 30 minutes or more. VIA Primo 100 and 102 are the frequent routes today, and that's what we measure walk minutes to.

2

Planned lines aren't open lines

The Green Line BRT is planned for April 2028, and station locations are still being verified. A 12-month lease signed now ends long before it opens.

3

Parking hides in the fee sheet

A garage space can be a separate monthly charge. If you can skip it, that's real money in true monthly.

So we measure walk minutes to Primo stops, show car-light cost math with and without parking, and note the Green Line timeline against your lease term.
